Light and fast-absorbing, serums are one of my prized skincare products – invaluable and irreplaceable in my daily routine. While not new to skincare, serums have gained more prominence over the past few years. Yet, serums are still unknown to many women: what it is and what it does.
Specially designed with smaller molecules to easily penetrate the skin, serums deliver potent doses of active ingredients (i.e. vitamins, antioxidants) into the deepest layers where repair and prevention is the most effective. While they tend to be on the pricier side, consider that they are formulated with higher concentrations of active ingredients than other skincare products (i.e. moisturizers and creams).
If you already have a regular skincare routine in place, you can easily incorporate a serum. If applying your products day and night, apply your serum after you tone but before you moisturize – this will ensure optimal absorption and moisture retention.
Interested, but not sure where to begin? Consider serums with vitamin C, vitamin A, bearberry, lactic acid or kojic acid for treating pigmentation and uneven skin tone. Consider serums with vitamin A, coenzyme Q10, hyaluronic acid, malic acid or glycol acid for anti-aging benefits. Consider serums with salicylic acid, glycol and lactic acids for treating acne. If you have sensitive skin, however, choose serums with aloe, lavender, ginger or chamamile.
Interested, but curious if two serums can be applied? The answer: YES! Layer them on one at a time, not mixing them together – think lighter to heavier when applying your skincare. And, if you’re considering on trying something new, I recommend Dior’s One Essential Intense Skin Detoxifying Booster Serum.
One Essential, a detoxifying serum, combats toxins by reinvigorating the elimination process in order to restore the skin’s luminosity. Not only does it restore and regenerate, it boosts up to four times the effectiveness of ingredients of your usual, subsequently applied skincare.
With over seven billion toxins that can accumulate in the skin, regeneration is limited – leaving our skin dull. Skin detoxification lifts the effects of these toxins, and revives the complexion and radiates luminescence. Apply this as your sole or primary serum day and night, allowing it to detox and prepare the skin for deeper penetration of subsequent skincare.
